The purpose of the Pecan Museum of Texas is to promote the pecan industry, educate the public, and honor those individuals and organizations both past and present, that have influenced the establishment of the pecan industry. The museum will enable us to share the pride of one of Guadalupe County’s richest resources – the Pecan. The Museum was lovingly built after years of fundraising by the Pecan Promotions Committee– a group of local citizens who had a desire to preserve some of the history of the “nut” that was and is an important industry in our county.
The Pecan Museum of Texas is home to a collection of B.W. Crawford’s aka Pecan Picasso, pecan artwork. This display is on loan from Denton County Historical Museum. Walk through the history of the farming of the pecan and see some of the older tools and equipment used to crack and shell this wonderful nut.
We also have on display some of Kenneth & Zelda Pape’s nut crackers.
When searching online or asking locals about things to do and see in the Seguin area, you will sure run in to many who say you just have to see the Big Pecan! We are home to the World’s Largest Pecan, which is housed outdoors, so you can drop by any time to see it and take pictures. On Monday, Wednesday, & Friday– Museum open from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, for self guided tours — by donation.
The museum is open to the public during our Market Days (aka Farmers Market & Artisans Alley), which is held the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The museum is also open during public events held throughout the year. For private tours, please call 830-379-0933. Admission is by donation.
