Pecan Fest 2026 at the Big Red Barn: What to Know Before You Go on October 24

Pecan Fest has been part of Seguin’s fall since 2009, and this year it lands on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Big Red Barn, 250 Cordova Rd.

Pecan Fest has been part of Seguin’s fall since 2009, and this year it lands on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Big Red Barn, 250 Cordova Rd. It is the Barn’s biggest day of the year and one of the reasons the classroom stays open: every plate, every booth and every hayride helps fund the field trips and programs that teach kids where their food comes from. Bring the family, and come hungry.

What’s Happening

  • Pecan Baking Contest. Pies, pralines and everything in between, with youth and adult divisions. Entries compete in five classes (cakes, candy, cookies and bars, pies, and miscellaneous), and every recipe needs at least one cup of pecans. Entry forms are due Friday, October 16, and judging is Saturday.
  • Youth Scarecrow Contest. Kids from kindergarten through 12th grade build a scarecrow and see how it stacks up. Entries are judged in three age groups, and winning scarecrows stand on display across the grounds all day.
  • Vendor Market. Handmade goods, antiques, woodcraft, fiber and food, from makers who will tell you how it is made.
  • Hayrides. A slow loop through the grounds, and the best seat for seeing the whole place at once.
  • Square Dancing. Live calling and a floor open to anyone. No experience needed.
  • Activities for Children. Games, crafts and farm fun for the little ones all day.
  • Heritage Village. The church, the schoolhouse, the log cabin and the filling station are open, with docents on hand to tell you their stories.
