AGRICULTURAL AWARENESS FAIR
Texas state history is taught in the 4th and 7th grades in the state of Texas.
Three weeks in the fall, 4th Graders from Public and Private schools in Guadalupe County and the surrounding Counties come to the Big Red Barn and are taught by real farmers and ranchers about all types of agriculture, along with farm safety, view demonstrations and participate in hands-on activities. Every child attending one of the fairs leaves the center with a copy of the Student Acitvity Book entitled “From the Farm to the Barn and Beyond,” developed especially for students.

Educators and schools who have not been contacted that are interested in scheduling classes for a visit during this time may call the center at the phone number provided in the heading on this page. Your contact information will be taken and a board member will return your call.
School Field Trips
Many schools schedule field trips, usually by grade level, to the Big Red Barn during the spring to complement their studies of farms, ranches, pioneer history and Texas history. Again, student groups are taught by real farmers and ranchers about all types of agriculture, along with farm safety, view demonstrations and participate in hands-on activities. Teachers receive a packet of materials that may be used in their classrooms.
Grade Level Coordinators or Principals may contact the center at the phone number provided in the heading on this page. Your contact information will be taken and a representative will return your call.
